Synthetic tetrapeptide

Epitalon

A tetrapeptide promoted for sleep and longevity despite identity transfer problems and no established insomnia or lifespan outcome evidence.

Also known as Epithalon · AEDG · epitalon acetate

01 · Evidence profile

One molecule, four evidence questions

Human outcomesDo people experience a meaningful benefit?
Unclear

FDA found no studies establishing insomnia outcomes for the nominated epitalon substances and route.

Human pharmacologyDo exposure, mechanisms, or biomarkers behave as expected?
Limited

Melatonin and cell-line findings are indirect and do not establish patient benefit.

Safety knowledgeHow well are risks characterized in people?
Unclear

Human product, route, exposure, impurity, and long-term safety data are inadequate.

Product certaintyIs identity, formulation, and quality anchored?
Unclear

Evidence often mixes epitalon, epitalon acetate, and non-identical pineal preparations.

02 · Identity

What it is

Epitalon is the tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. It is frequently discussed alongside epithalamin, a pineal preparation, but those are not the same intervention.

03 · Product identity

The molecule is not the finished product.

Epitalon, epitalon acetate, and older pineal extracts such as epithalamin are not automatically interchangeable evidence objects.

Approved products

None identified in the United States.

Approved or reviewed uses
  • No FDA-approved indication

04 · Evidence snapshot

What the evidence can and cannot say

What we know

Laboratory work has reported telomere-related effects in human cell lines. FDA's current review found melatonin-related information but no clinical insomnia studies using the nominated substances by the proposed route.

What we do not know

Cell-line telomere changes do not establish slower aging, longer life, cancer prevention, or improved health in people. Evidence from epithalamin cannot be silently reassigned to epitalon.

06 · Safety boundary

Before this becomes personal

Longevity claims demand long-duration human outcomes, not only mechanisms. This guide provides no injectable, sleep-treatment, or anti-aging regimen.

Sport and anti-doping · Not assessed

This editorial review did not determine sport eligibility. Athletes must check the current prohibited list, Global DRO, and their governing body.
